Over the past month, I have come to rely on artificial intelligence (AI) for most of my queries and work, forgoing traditional search. As a result, I am getting better and quicker results for most of my needs (the service I am using most right now is the subscription version of ChatGPT). In particular, I have found AI very useful for technical questions about computers and websites as well as to gather information for repairs and maintenance around the house.
To share the types of searches I am crafting, and to communicate potential value for readers of this blog, here is a sample of my queries over the past month. Please note that I am giving you a summary of the requests, not the actual wording, which might be more specific as I am learning how to craft requests and put parameters on them to elicit the best results:
- How do I view the lyrics of a song in the Spotify app?
- Who assists Concordia Health Plans in managing care, and how do I reach them?
- What was the impact of Mt. Davis at the Oakland Coliseum?
- Explain what the phrase “Sisyphean task” means.
- Troubleshoot my Whirlpool dishwasher with me.
- What are sound accountability strategies for students within project-based learning?
- Here is a project description. How can this become more interesting and engaging to someone who might not care as much about the topic?
- Help me adapt this research activity in the age of AI so that authentic learning takes place and can be demonstrated.
- Help me troubleshoot this error message on my computer (I took a screenshot of the message and uploaded that to AI to review).
- Provide ways that the hand sumo game can be used as a brain break in the classroom.
- Help me craft an Honors Government extension activity on Articles IV-VII of the Constitution for high school seniors.
- What are some small steps a third-grade classroom could take in implementing project-based learning?
- Create an easy beef chili recipe for me based on the ingredients I have in the house (and I listed those ingredients)
- Craft a devotion on a person’s legacy for me from the theological perspective of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS).
- Help me set up an Arris modem (I worked on this when I was visiting my parents)
- Why was the character of Radar absent from many episodes of season six in M*A*S*H?
Does AI still provide incorrect information at times? The answer is yes, but the number of hallucinations has greatly decreased from what I see, and even with the occasional hallucination, I am finding AI to be far quicker and more efficient than traditional search, where one must move through multiple websites, pages, menus, search queries, etc.
That is my personal AI experience from the past month. Hopefully, this is helpful for you in identifying what is possible with AI for you. What have your recent AI experiences been like?
