Lutheran Education and Little Things

I had a former student who I have not seen for probably 25+ years message me this weekend. She is now married and has a family of her own. Here is what she said.

For the record, the “drink water upside down” to get rid of hiccups thing you taught us middle school aged so well tonight.

I have not thought about this for years. For some reason, I shared this strategy with her class, and she remembered this and wanted to reach out with this information. I am very thankful that she took the time to share this. What a blessing!

Why do I share this? Because what we do matters — even in the little things! Sharing Jesus every day in Christian education presents us with regular opportunities for Kingdom work. Our work may, with the Holy Spirit, change whole lives, or it may simply assist students in working through some of the details of life.

I am thankful to have received this message. It is a small reminder of how God works through all things and through Lutheran education.
